Student to travel 80 Days with Anderson

img_20150429_213712GREENVILLE, Pa. – In celebration of its 80th anniversary, Anderson Coach & Travel is bringing a special guest aboard some of its 2017 tours for an exciting new project.

College student McKenzie Caldwell will travel 80 Days with Anderson and write about her adventures on the Anderson website, social media and a new blog, OnTheRoadWithGoAnderson.com.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for a young person like McKenzie to see our beautiful country and share their impressions with the public. We’re thrilled to have her aboard and are sure people will enjoy her take on traveling,” said company President Doug Anderson.

His sister Sue Anderson Nicklin, vice president of the company, added that her late parents and the company’s founders Dot and O.D. Anderson would be happy about the educational aspects of the program as well. Mrs. Anderson was a teacher – she and O.D. met on both their first days at a one room schoolhouse where he’d driven the students – and a champion of lifelong learning.

Ms. Caldwell will earn a scholarship to her university upon completion of the project, which starts with a New Year’s Eve jaunt to New York City to see the ball drop! This will be Ms. Caldwell’s first trip to the Big Apple. Future plans include sending McKenzie to the Presidential Inauguration and a busy summer traversing the continental United States on a deluxe Anderson motorcoach.

Ms. Caldwell is a student at University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio, and hails from the small town of Leesburg, Ohio, where she grew up on a farm. She is majoring in writing and computer science. At not-quite 20 years old, Ms. Caldwell has already seen some success as a writer and is eager to see the world and write about it.

“A few of my poems have been published in the last few years, and I recently finished a novel I’ve been working on for the last six, but this is the most exciting project that I’ve ever worked on,” Caldwell said. “I’ve said for quite a while that if I can travel, write, and not starve, my life would be complete, but this position will offer more than I ever imagined when I offered those words to distant relatives who asked what I wanted to do once I get out of college.”
